Jasminda Madrid
My name is Jasminda! My friends call me Jazzy. I am 15 years old and currently a Junior at Williamsburg Charter High School.
During my freetime I enjoy partaking in many activities...
- Teaching Brazilian Jiu Jitsu - 2-3 days a week I teach 4-12 year olds a Mixed Martial Art called Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. I competed competitively for seven years, and recently I transfered into teaching. I am educating young children how to defend themselves in a way that combines Judo and Wrestling, but will overall benefit their wellbeing.
- Tutor, NHS, and Student Government - Over Covid I took up the role of being peer tutor at my school, and had the opportunity of teaching Algebra I/II and Chemistry to my lowerclassmen. As for NHS and Student Government, I help facilitate a bunch of funrasising/college readiness events.
- Debate and Civic Engagement Council - I have been doing Constitutional Law and Debate for the last three years and have been able to deep dive into standards that we live under. I also participate in three competitions per year. I am also apart of a Civic Engagement Council where I work on issues such as MTA reform and Pre-Voter Registration with my peers.
